Today, for me, marks the first and most official application I have made thus far in my life. I submitted an application to the Intellectual Property Office for the logo for Dangermoose Studios. Luckily, after reading through the numerous guidelines, documents and information, I didn’t have to make changes to my logo, which was a plus. The application fee is £200 for a trademark, with a £30 discount if you pay the complete fee. A relatively huge amount of money, but I guess I’ll have to put it in the “Business Expenses” folder.
The application takes 10 business days to be reviewed, so I’ll be waiting about two weeks to know whether it was flat-out rejected. Knowing my luck, this will happen. What’s worse is that the application fee is an administration cost and is non-refundable. *Sigh*
If my application is accepted, however, it will then take six months to be fully registered. *Heavy Sigh*
Once all that is over, I’ll have myself a fully registered logo (The ® mark, as opposed to the non-legally binding ™ mark) for 10 years, so I guess that’s a bonus. They could have made it a yearly fee if they were feeling money-hungry.
Pretty exciting now all that is done. Now it is up to time to tell the rest of the story.
